Maxxis’ Wienen, Baron Take Victories in ATV MX and WORCS
Chad Wienen and Team Maxxis/H&M’s Beau Baron both took victories over the past weekend in major ATV series. Wienen won the AMA ATV Motocross National Championship season kick-off, held March 23 in Washington, Georgia, while Baron took first place in WORCS’ third round, held March 24 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
The series’ defending champion, Wienen turned in strong performances in both motos, finishing third and second for first place overall. His Wienen Motorsports teammate Thomas Brown was also on the podium in third place. Wienen said that his Razr tire combo proved to be the right choice for the weekend: “Starts were key, and we had solid hookup off the start. From there, it was kind of one-lined, so it was just follow the leader. In the main, we used the Razr Cross fronts and Orange [Razr MX] rears, and I just made a couple of key passes up until the midway point when lappers started getting thick. It was a good weekend coming out with the top spot.”
Like Wienen, Baron was pleased with the performance of his Maxxis tires: “The [Razr] Xc’s hooked up so good from start to finish. They worked whether it was sand or hardpack and they didn’t break down at all throughout the race.” Defending champion Baron was also joined on the podium by his teammate, with David Haagsma taking second place. The win was Baron’s second in three races, and he and Haagsma, who won the season’s opening round, lead the series’ overall standings.
Maxxis congratulates Chad Wienen and Beau Baron on their victories, and thanks Thomas Brown, David Haagsma and all of its riders for their fine performances.
