Construction
Hinson’s clutch basket, inner hubs, and pressure plates that are constructed of 6061 T-6 Aluminum with an akadized finish, which is claimed to yield five times the wear resistance with proper maintenance.

Using these components together helps reduce chatter and allows the clutch to spin more true when disengaged. The individual components and entire system are designed to reduce heat for less fade and wear.
The highest wear clutch components are the clutch plates. Hinson’s clutch plates feature high production tolerances allowing the clutch plates to perfectly mate with Hinson’s basket and inner hub, enhancing the life of all components. They’ll also work fine with your other low-wear OE clutch components. Hinson’s fiber plates are manufactured in Japan using an aluminum base plate with paper of cork friction material.
Hinson’s clutch plates feature high production tolerances allowing the clutch plates to perfectly mate with Hinson’s basket and inner hub, enhancing the life of all components. They’ll also work fine with your other low-wear OE clutch components.
Hinson’s clutch springs are precision-machined from billet T6 aircraft-quality aluminum to aerospace tolerances and are claimed to be stronger than stock.
The Hinson Clutch Kit is finished off with their billetproof clutch cover. The cover is machined from billet T6 Aluminum and is hard-coated with a finish that does a remarkable job of holding up to boot wear.
Review
After two seasons on our machine’s current Hinson basket, there wasn’t enough wear to justify replacing it with a brand new one, so our new basket will be shelved for now. With the exception of the plates, we expect to get around four seasons out of our Hinson clutch assembly, compared to a stock. You’re lucky to get one season out of a stock basket.
