Maxxis Riders Claim WORCS and GNCC Pro ATV Championships

As two of the country’s major ATV series wind down for the year, Maxxis-sponsored riders locked up championships with race victories. WORCS’ final race of the year saw Team Maxxis/H&M riders Beau Baron and David Haagsma on the Pro podium in first and second place for the day, as Baron secured the series championship. With three races left in the GNCC season, Chris Borich sealed his XC1 Pro title with his ninth victory of the year. WORCS’ Round 8 was held September 15-16 in Taft, California, and the GNCC’s Round 10 was held September 15 in New Berlin, New York.
Baron enjoyed the race that clinched his title. “It was a real good day today,” he said. “When you get out front in the beginning it gets tiresome, just waiting for the white flag to come around. Pretty soon you’re like ‘Come on, throw the flag!’ It was fun and it was a good course!” Baron took five wins and two second-place finishes over the course of the season, for a total of 187 points. Haagsma’s five podium spots earned him third place in the series’ standings. The two riders’ results can be credited to everyone involved with the team, according to Baron: “It was a big group effort, and everyone had some say-so, and it made our team successful all year.” Throughout 2012, Baron and Haagsma rode Maxxis’ Razr Xc rears and Razr 2 fronts to the podium.
Also capping off a great season, Maxxis’ Ryan Piplic took his second win of the year in the SxS 1000 Production class on Ceros tires to seal the deal for the championship. Beau Baron was running in second place for most the race, until a mechanical failure sidelined him in the last lap. Baron trusted Maxxis Vipr tires to take him to third in the SxS Production 1000 championship for 2012.
The GNCC title is the fourth in a row for Borich, who was gunning for the lead from the start of Round 10. Battling three other riders for much of the race, Borich took the front spot close to the end. Ballance Racing’s Walker Fowler took second place for the day and is currently third in the standings, while teammate Taylor Kiser finished fourth at Round 10 and now holds the third-place spot in XC1 Pro. Traci Cecco took her fourth win of the season in the Women’s class, and has led class standings for much of the season. Cliff Beasley, who clinched the U2 title earlier in the season, took a ninth win at Round 10, while his Team UXC teammate Michael Swift took third place in 4×4 Open for the day and is currently second in the class.
