0Maxxis’ Wienen Clinches 2nd Consecutive National Championship
“It all started with the first gate drop. I hooked up great off the start,” said Wienen. “I got the holeshot, so it was just what I needed to be able to ride my own race. Conditions were loose, and there were some real hardpack sections, so the orange label [Razr MX] rears and [Razr] cross fronts were amazing. In the second moto I came out third and made two quick passes. I felt like I could do no wrong. I had great traction and I felt so comfortable. It was probably the most fun I have had in one weekend in a long time!” Wienen’s Razrs have performed for him throughout the year, taking him to victory in eight of the season’s nine races.
Teammate Thomas Brown also had a good day, taking second place in both motos and second for the day. He finished just three seconds behind Wienen in the first moto, and turned in a solid performance in the second. With one race left in the season, Brown is second in points for the series.
Josh Upperman went 6-5 for sixth place for the day, and Nick Denoble was 7-9 for seventh place overall. Upperman and Denoble are also sixth and seventh in point standings.
Maxxis congratulates Chad Wienen on his championship and thanks all of its riders for their fine performances.
